The purpose of this mystery tea party plan is to have fun! Oh, yes, and to solve the mystery along the way.
The scripts for each character should be sent along with the invitation to the mystery tea party. (Envelopes may be purchased at most stationery departments of stores or craft stores.) It’s a good idea to phone your guests first to make sure they can attend before sending the script. Otherwise, you may lose the script if they cannot attend. Encourage them to wear red feather hats or accessories.
Nametags and place cards are included. You may want to decorate them with red feathers. A pen with a red feather taped to it makes a cute table favor. Be sure your guests wear their numbered name tags. The numbered place cards will assist them in giving their stories in the proper sequence.
The detective’s report should be placed in a sealed envelope. You will read it at the end of the party, after the ballots have been read.
The hostess should assume the role of Betty, the Prime Plume of the Red Feather Investment Club. You do not need to memorize your script, but be familiar with it so that you do not need to read it word for word. Ad- libs of legal mumbo jumbo during the course of the tea party would add to the fun.
